Our High-Quality Air Conditioning Units

A gas or electric furnace is the main component of a traditional heating system and may be combined with an air conditioner for a complete heating and cooling system. This combination is referred to as a split system.
A hybrid heating and cooling system is a variation to the traditional split system. It includes an outdoor heat pump that allows the option of electricity-fueled heating and cooling in addition to a gas furnace. It’s an energy-efficient and cost-effective way to heat and cool your home.
Ductless systems can be installed in places where conventional ducted systems cannot go or are an ideal complement to your home’s current ducted system. They can function as an air conditioner for cooling only or as a heat pump for both cooling and heating.

Cooling Systems come in different types which affect the efficiency, comfort level, and noise level of a system.
Single-Stage
A single-stage unit means its operating speed is either on or off.
Two-Stage
A Two-stage unit means it operates on either high or low. The low setting is adequate to meet most household cooling demands about 80% of the time, providing even temperatures. On hotter days, it can leverage the high level of operation to maintain comfort levels. Two-stage systems are typically quieter and more efficient than a single-stage unit.
Multi-Stage
A Multi-stage unit has a range of operation and therefore the most precise temperature control and best comfort. These variable speed units are the quietest and offer the most energy savings.

Help Me Decide

Choosing between an Air Conditioner and a Heat Pump
1
Upfront cost

While an AC might have a lower upfront cost, there may be energy-savings available when heating with a heat pump. When considering cost, it is important to understand the total costs to install a system that can both heat and cool your home properly. Your Home Comfort Alliance Consultant can help determine all of the costs involved.

2
Energy efficiency/cost of operation

Heat pump systems provides energy-efficient heating using electricity, so when the temperature is moderately cold outdoors, they can be less costly to operate compared to systems that use more expensive fuel sources such as natural gas, oil, or propane.  As temperatures drop below freezing, the heat pump requires more energy to maintain comfort inside, reducing efficiency and increasing your electric bill.  This problem is solved by pairing a heat pump with a furnace, thus creating a Hybrid Heat system. However, due to the higher initial cost for the heat pump unit, a hybrid system may be more expensive than a more commonly paired system of an air conditioner and furnace.

The energy efficiency rating for both air conditioners and heat pumps when in cooling mode is expressed as SEER ratings. The efficiency of a heat pump when in heat mode is expressed as HSPF.  The higher the rating for SEER or HSPF, the more efficient the unit.   However, the energy efficiency and cost to operate really comes down to location.  In areas with more moderate temperatures, a heat pump is a better option for efficient heating than in places that have very cold winter temperatures.

3
Life expectancy

While the longevity of an HVAC system is determined by several variables, AC units typically last longer than heat pumps.  Because heat pumps both heat and cool a home, they are used year-round.  Air conditioners get a rest during cooler months when a separate heat source is used to heat the home.  However, even though a heat pump may have a shorter life expectancy, that can be offset by its ability to deliver efficient, money-saving heating during milder winter weather.  The life expectancy of your heat pump or air conditioning system can be maximized and kept running at its maximum energy efficiency by having the expert technicians at Home Comfort Alliance maintain your system regularly.   Comfort Club members never have to think about it!

MM Comfort Systems installed a Mitsubishi ductless heat pump at my house recently. The house was originally built with hydronic heating, so the mini split is an addition and provides AC plus a second option for heating. Had a very good experience with MM. The salesman, Russel, was very professional. The installers, Sam and Antonio, did a really nice job on the install and the installation looks extremely tidy. I can't comment on the long term durability of the Mitsubishi at this point since I've only had it for a few weeks, but so far its performing very well.

Got nothing to say but the best interaction I’ve gotten from a contracting company. We went thru Costco to get a new gas furnace and ac setup. Drew, Jason, and Jeremy was my main crew who did the install. I had to work during most of the install but Drew always contacted me with any issues that came up and also let me decide where I wanted things to go. I thought that was very nice because most people would just do whatever that was easier for them to get the job done. I had a gas line installed to the meter also, I didn’t get to meet him nor the electrical guy but they both also did an amazing job.Update: forgot to mention that I had a hard time getting ahold of the sales department. Left atleast 3 Emails until I got a answer back. Wanted to add another product to my system but I’m waiting for a email response. The install crew were too notch. But the sales side and appointment side, not so great!

We have used this company for close to 8 years. They installed our Mitsubishi mini splits and also maintain them. Everyone has been professional. Prices are discussed prior to them showing up. Pricing is good. Allen was our technician today. He has worked with this company close to 30 years. Super knowledgeable and trustworthy. I highly recommend this company.

Geoff and the team at Sullivan did a fantastic job replacing our aging HVAC system. We had a complex system and the team assessed our needs and designed a great solution for our 2 story home. I got 4 bids and the Sullivan bid was by far the best design. The other companies just wanted to replace our system with the same. Design was 100% Execution was 100% Thanks Geoff and team.

Cool guys I dealt with today. They seem laid back and down to earth. I had an interview with them earlier today. Hopefully we can work something out.
