Ready to
Save BIG?

Say goodbye to high energy bills!
Save up to $9,500 on a new heat pump!

Whether it’s time, nearly time, or past time to upgrade your old HVAC system, now is the right moment to take action. You have a limited window to benefit from federal tax credits available through the Inflation Reduction Act. Remember, to qualify for these savings, your installation must be completed by December 31, 2025.

You may still have the opportunity to meet the deadline and maximize your savings with rebate offers through Puget Sound Energy (PSE). To take advantage of this, please contact the Home Comfort Alliance office in Western Washington nearest to you as soon as possible. We will handle the rebate process for you, provide retrofit installation, and offer financing options. However, time is of the essence!

What Are PSE Rebates and Who Qualifies?

PSE provides various rebates for residential customers using electricity and natural gas. Homeowners in Western Washington can take advantage of rebates for HVAC upgrades, which include new equipment like major HVAC controls, air-source heat pumps, and hybrid heat pumps. Please note that specific installation requirements apply based on installation dates. To ensure your installation meets these requirements, check with the Home Comfort Alliance.

The Major HVAC Controls program, aimed at energy savings, can provide funding for up to 50% of the total project cost for approved energy-efficient upgrades. These upgrades can lead to significant savings in energy consumption over time. The Home Comfort Alliance team is available to discuss which units meet these requirements with you.

To qualify for PSE heat pump rebates when installing a new heat pump, residents must meet the following criteria: they must be current PSE customers, own a single-family home, and choose to replace their existing heating system with a qualifying high-efficiency heat pump.

Federal Tax Credits Are Expiring in 2025

Take advantage of the federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit while you can! You may qualify for credits of up to 30% of the purchase price and installation costs for new equipment, but it’s important to ensure that your unit is fully installed by the federal government’s deadline of December 31, 2025. The maximum annual credit available per customer in 2025 is $3,200.

Financing and Installation Help from Home Comfort

Home Comfort Alliance offers a range of flexible financing options to suit your needs, with the possibility of no upfront costs. You can finance amounts up to $6,000 for 12 months or $6,000 and above for 18 months at zero percent interest on approved loans. Alternatively, you can choose a loan of $3,500 or more for a term of 180 months with an interest rate of 8.99%.

Once you decide on your retrofit HVAC unit and choose the financing option that best fits your budget, we will set up an installation date with you. Be sure to allow plenty of time for installation prior to the federal HVAC tax credit deadline of December 31, 2025, to maximize your savings.

Updated rebate information

The right rebate depends on what heats your home today

Instead of relying on one generic savings number, start with your current utility account and primary heating system. That determines whether a heat pump conversion, heat pump replacement, hybrid heat pump, water heater, thermostat, or weatherization path may apply.

Important: Rebate amounts, program rules, eligible equipment, contractor requirements, application deadlines, and funding availability are subject to change. Confirm eligibility with Home Comfort Alliance and/or PSE before installation.

Federal tax credit note: The IRS currently describes the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit as available for qualifying improvements made through December 31, 2025. Do not assume a 2026 HVAC installation qualifies for a federal tax credit without checking IRS guidance or a qualified tax professional.

Find your rebate path

Start with what you have now

Your existing system matters as much as the new equipment. These common starting points can help you prepare for a consultation.

Current system

Electric furnace, baseboard, wall heat, or cable heat

Ask whether an electric-resistance-to-air-source-heat-pump conversion may apply.

Current system

Natural gas furnace

Ask whether a hybrid heat pump or income-qualified gas-to-electric conversion path may apply.

Current system

Existing all-electric heat pump

Ask whether a qualifying high-efficiency heat pump replacement path may apply.

Current need

Hot water, controls, drafts, or uneven rooms

Ask about water heating, smart thermostats, duct sealing, insulation, or weatherization options.

How HCA helps

A simpler rebate review before installation

The goal is to understand the likely rebate path before the estimate is finalized, not after the project is already installed.

Confirm your PSE account

We identify whether your home is served by PSE electric, natural gas, or both.

Document your current system

Your current primary heating fuel and equipment type guide the rebate conversation.

Review qualifying options

Your consultant reviews heat pump, hybrid, water heating, thermostat, or efficiency options that may fit your home.

Clarify next steps

You receive a clear proposal, documentation reminders, and eligibility items to confirm before moving forward.

Eligibility checklist

What to verify before counting on a rebate

Keep this checklist handy when comparing estimates. It reduces confusion and helps prevent missed rebate requirements.

  • Your home is an eligible existing residential property served by PSE.
  • Your current heating system matches the rebate category you are considering.
  • The selected equipment meets PSE efficiency, certification, sizing, and installation requirements.
  • The contractor pathway matches PSE program requirements when applicable.
  • Your documentation includes installation address, date, brand, model numbers, paid invoice, and required supporting details.
  • Your application is submitted within the required timeframe.
  • Efficiency Boost has been reviewed if your household may qualify for higher rebates.

FAQs

PSE rebate questions homeowners ask before upgrading HVAC

These answers are intentionally clear and practical. Final eligibility depends on current PSE rules and your home’s specifics.

What PSE heat pump rebates are available?

PSE lists rebate paths for qualifying electric resistance to air-source heat pump conversions, heat pump-to-heat pump upgrades, hybrid heat pump systems, and income-qualified gas-to-electric heat pump conversions. Amounts and requirements vary by project.

Do all PSE customers qualify for HVAC rebates?

No. Eligibility depends on your PSE account type, whether your home is an eligible single-family residence, your current primary heating fuel, selected equipment, contractor pathway, documentation, and application timing.

What is PSE Efficiency Boost?

Efficiency Boost is PSE’s income-qualified program that may provide higher rebate amounts for eligible customers and eligible energy-efficient home upgrades, including certain heat pump, water heating, weatherization, and thermostat projects.

Can I qualify if I currently heat with natural gas?

Possibly. PSE lists a hybrid heat pump rebate path for certain natural gas furnace homes and a separate income-qualified gas-to-electric heat pump conversion path. The right option depends on your home, account type, existing equipment, and income eligibility where required.

Do I need a PSE Trade Ally or Recommended Energy Professional?

Many PSE rebate programs require installation through a PSE Trade Ally or Recommended Energy Professional. Confirm the contractor pathway before work begins, because using an out-of-network contractor may affect eligibility.

Are federal HVAC tax credits available for 2026 installations?

The IRS states that the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit applies to qualifying improvements made through December 31, 2025. Homeowners planning 2026 projects should not assume a current federal HVAC tax credit is available and should consult IRS guidance or a qualified tax professional.

How do I start the PSE rebate process?

Start by confirming your PSE account type, current primary heating system, project goals, and home eligibility. Then review qualifying equipment, contractor requirements, documentation, and application timing before installation.
