Home Comfort Alliance is a heating contractor for Poulsbo homes, working from our Bremerton branch. We repair, maintain and replace gas furnaces, electric furnaces, heat pumps, ductless systems and dual fuel setups, and we service oil furnaces and boilers. Estimates for new systems are free; repair visits start with a $119 trip fee.
Call (425) 645-0404 or use the form at the bottom of the page. Our phones are answered and bookings are accepted 24/7. Heating and cooling technicians work during business hours and are available after hours for qualifying emergencies ($330 after-hours fee).
Poulsbo has both utilities a heating choice depends on: Cascade Natural Gas lists Poulsbo among its communities, and Puget Sound Energy supplies electricity. Outside the gas mains, many North Kitsap homes still heat with electric baseboards, an electric furnace, propane or oil.
| What you have now | Common next step | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cascade gas furnace | Repair, or a 95% to 98% AFUE gas furnace | Cascade rebates of $1,600 or $2,400 on qualifying replacements |
| Gas furnace plus air conditioning wish | Dual fuel: heat pump with the gas furnace as backup | Heat pump covers most of the winter and adds cooling |
| Electric baseboards or wall heaters | Ductless heat pump | No ducts needed; PSE pays $1,500 to convert electric heat |
| Electric furnace | Ducted heat pump on the existing ducts | Same PSE conversion rebate; far lower running cost |
| Oil or propane furnace | Heat pump, with or without the furnace as backup | We service oil systems; the homeowner hires a certified tank decommissioner if the oil tank goes |
| Aging heat pump | Repair, or a variable-speed replacement | PSE instant discounts and, for ducted all-electric systems, the $1,500 upgrade rebate |
Most heating calls we take in Poulsbo are a furnace that will not light, a heat pump blowing cool air, or rooms that never warm up. Visit fees are posted here and the repair is priced in writing before anything is replaced.

Poulsbo winters are long, cool and wet more than they are cold. The 2021 Seattle Energy Code lists a 29°F winter design temperature for nearby Bremerton, which modern cold-climate heat pumps handle comfortably. The harder part is moisture: equipment in crawlspaces and garages near Liberty Bay rusts faster, condensate lines grow algae, and outdoor units need a raised pad and clear space for defrost water to drain.
Inside city limits, the City of Poulsbo Building Department issues mechanical permits for furnace and heat pump replacements. Outside city limits, Kitsap County requires a mechanical permit except for appliance repair, plus a permit to install or move gas lines (Kitsap County permit guide). Electrical permits come from Washington L&I. We pull the required permits for every installation.

In June a new owner of a Poulsbo home called about the heat pump, installed in 2018 by a different company. It had a slow refrigerant leak, and another contractor had added dye to the system without finding the source.
Our technician found oil on the Schrader valve at one of the service ports, a sign the valve core was leaking. He replaced the valve core, ran the system and confirmed it was operating properly.
