Getting the size and installation right
We size every new system from a room-by-room load calculation (Manual J), not from the size of the old unit. An oversized system cools fast but leaves the house clammy and short cycles; an undersized one runs all afternoon in a heat wave and still falls behind.
We also check duct size and sealing, the electrical panel, and where the outdoor unit will sit. On waterfront and low-lying lots, we set the outdoor unit on a raised pad with good drainage and choose coil coatings or placement that hold up to salty, damp air.
Spring AC maintenance
