Regional benchmark, not our price: Angi puts Seattle-area heat pump installations at about $6,667 to $13,852, averaging $10,218 (updated July 8, 2026, Angi). Quotes vary because of ductwork, panel capacity, the number of ductless zones and whether the equipment is rated for cold climates; we itemize each one so you can compare.

Plenty of Kingston homes, additions and guest houses were built without ducts. Ductless heads mount on a wall or ceiling and heat one room or zone each, which suits those homes and additions. A ducted heat pump replaces an electric or fossil furnace and uses the existing duct system, which is usually the cleaner choice when the ducts are sound. We check the ducts and the electrical panel on the estimate visit.
North Kitsap winters are wet and mild; the 2021 Seattle Energy Code lists a 29°F winter design temperature for Bremerton, the nearest listed city. Cold-climate heat pumps keep heating well below that. Most installs keep a backup, either electric heat strips or the existing propane or oil furnace in a dual fuel setup. Windstorm outages are a fact of life on wooded lots; ask about a standby generator if you want heat through a long outage.
Repair visits carry a $119 dispatch fee and a $72 standard diagnostic ($130 for a deeper one), with the repair priced in writing first. A heat pump tune-up is $230 per piece of equipment, or $180 for Home Comfort Club members. Heating and cooling technicians are available after hours for qualifying emergencies ($330 after-hours fee). See heat pump repair.
Kingston is unincorporated, so Kitsap County issues the mechanical permit; the county's guide notes that a detached structure housing mechanical equipment such as a heat pump also needs a permit (Kitsap County permit guide). New installations come with a 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation.

In October we were at a Kingston property for first-year maintenance on a single-head Mitsubishi Electric heat pump in the guest house, installed about nine months earlier. Our technician cleaned the filters, brushed the indoor and outdoor coils, took amp readings and tested it from the controls.
He also serviced the heat pump and air handler in the main house, checking every component against factory specifications. Both systems were working properly when he left.
