Smell propane or a strange gas odor? Get everyone out, leave doors open, and do not use switches or phones inside. From outside, call your propane supplier or 911. Call us once the home is cleared.
Kingston has no natural gas utility: Puget Sound Energy lists Kitsap County as electric-only service, and Cascade Natural Gas does not list Kingston among its communities. Kingston homes heat with electricity, propane, oil or a heat pump. So most furnace calls here are electric, propane or oil, and most upgrades are heat pumps.

As of October 2026, PSE pays $1,500 to replace electric resistance heat with a heat pump and $1,500 to upgrade an out-of-warranty ducted all-electric heat pump, each with up to $2,400 more through Efficiency Boost, and takes $300, $400 or $600 off qualifying units at purchase. There is no gas utility rebate in Kingston, and PSE has no rebate for new propane or oil furnaces. The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. Kingston is unincorporated, so Kitsap County issues mechanical permits. The county requires a mechanical permit for heating work except appliance repair, and a permit to install or move gas lines, which covers propane piping (Kitsap County permit guide). Electrical permits come from Washington L&I. A part repair normally needs no permit; replacing a furnace or heat pump does, and we pull the required permits for every installation.

In September we serviced a Carrier ducted heat pump and air handler in Kingston, about a year after installation. Our technician changed the 20x20x4 filter, brushed out the condensate trap, and inspected the blower wheel and motor bearings.
He tightened the electrical connections, checked both coils and the refrigerant line set for damage or oil, and confirmed supply voltage at 240 volts. First-year maintenance is included with every new installation and keeps the Comfort Shield labor warranty active.
