Rebates for Port Orchard furnace replacements
Rebates depend on which utility serves the home. As of September 2026:
- Cascade Natural Gas customers: Cascade lists Washington rebates for qualifying high-efficiency gas furnaces and dual-fuel systems installed on or after March 15, 2026, where gas stays the primary heat (Cascade Natural Gas residential rebates). Amounts are set by Cascade, so we check them against your model before you sign.
- Electric furnace homes on PSE power: switching an electric furnace to a qualifying heat pump can earn PSE’s electric resistance to heat pump rebate of $1,500, with up to $2,400 more through Efficiency Boost for qualifying households (PSE electric resistance to heat pump rebate).
- PSE gas programs: PSE’s hybrid and gas conversion rebates are for PSE natural gas customers, so they do not apply to Cascade gas homes in Port Orchard.
Home Comfort Alliance is a PSE Trade Ally approved contractor for HVAC systems, and PSE heating rebates require a Trade Ally or registered installer. We fill in the rebate paperwork with you at install. The federal 25C tax credit ended on December 31, 2025, so we don’t count it in any estimate.
Sizing, venting and ductwork
A furnace that is too big short-cycles, wears out sooner and leaves rooms uneven; one that is too small runs nonstop on the coldest nights. We size the new unit with a room-by-room load calculation instead of copying the old nameplate, because many homes have had windows, insulation or additions changed since the original furnace went in.
Venting matters as much as size. An 80% gas furnace vents hot exhaust through a metal flue, while a condensing furnace vents cool exhaust through PVC and drains water, so the pipe route and the drain location are planned before install day. We also static-pressure test the ductwork. If a return is starving the system, fixing it is often the cheapest comfort upgrade in the whole project.
Permits and install day
Inside city limits, the City of Port Orchard issues residential mechanical permits for furnace replacement (City of Port Orchard, residential plumbing and mechanical permits). Homes in unincorporated South Kitsap are permitted through Kitsap County instead, and any new circuit is permitted through Washington L&I (L&I, cities that do their own electrical permits). We pull the right permit and schedule the inspection.
