The City of Bellevue issues and inspects electrical permits, including panel changes, added panels, generators and EV charging stations. Applications go through MyBuildingPermit.com, and simple permits with no plan review can often be issued the same day (City of Bellevue electrical permits). We pull the required permits for our work.
For a panel or service upgrade, PSE energizes the new service only after it passes electrical inspection, and only PSE sets or removes the meter; the meter base and mast belong to the homeowner (PSE Customer Construction Services, 1-888-321-7779). We coordinate the inspection and PSE's part of the job.
Bellevue's housing runs from 1950s and 1960s ramblers in neighborhoods such as Lake Hills to large newer homes and condos. In older houses, 100-amp panels and full breaker boxes are the usual limit when you add an EV charger, a heat pump or a remodeled kitchen. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels still turn up and are worth replacing. In condos, panel and service changes also depend on the building and its HOA, so we check those rules before quoting.
PSE offers up to $300 for a qualifying ENERGY STAR smart Level 2 charger, and income-qualified customers can get up to $600 plus up to $2,000 toward installation; apply within 60 days of installation (PSE EV charger rebate, read November 4, 2026). The federal 30C credit ended June 30, 2026. We currently offer $200 off an EV charger install and $200 off an electrical panel upgrade. Bigger projects have their own pages: panel upgrades, EV charger installation and standby generators.
In October 2026 a Bellevue homeowner (98008) bought a new range that needed a 50-amp circuit the kitchen didn't have. Our electrician added a 50-amp breaker in the panel and ran new wire from the panel through the garage and attic, then down the kitchen wall to a new receptacle at the oven location, ready for the range to plug in.
