Repair or replace an Everett furnace?

A recent Everett furnace repair: south Everett
In September a south Everett homeowner called because the gas furnace was running the blower but not heating. Our technician found a failure-to-ignite code with the blower running and no flame. He checked both pressure switches, the ignitor and the voltage at the gas valve, and confirmed gas was reaching the valve. The draft inducer was grinding on loose mounting bolts. Once he tightened them, the furnace lit and cycled normally through several test runs, and he cleaned the flame sensor. Because the inducer motor was drawing high amps and running hot, he recommended replacing the inducer assembly; the homeowner chose to wait and watch it. Given the furnace's age, he also suggested budgeting for a replacement.
