Home Comfort Alliance repairs ducted heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and dual-fuel systems across Everett from our Everett branch at 3409 Everett Avenue. We offer after-hours emergency HVAC service, with an after-hours fee of $330. A daytime visit has a $119 dispatch fee and a $72 standard diagnostic, listed separately, and you approve a written price before any work begins.
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Same-day service when possible. For a heat pump that stops at night, call us and switch the thermostat to emergency heat while you wait.
A heat pump that is about to fail usually tells you first. Call us if you notice any of these:
Our heat pump repair guide explains each check in more detail.
Everett winters are damp and mild with cold snaps, so heat pumps here run long hours and go through many defrost cycles. Homes near the water in Bayside and Port Gardner also get salt air, which is hard on outdoor coils and electrical parts. These are the repairs we see most:
| System | Parts we repair most | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Ducted heat pump | Capacitors and contactors, defrost boards and sensors, reversing valves, outdoor fan motors, refrigerant leaks | A failed capacitor or contactor is one of the most common no-heat calls and is often fixed on the first visit. |
| Ductless mini-split | Condensate drains and pans, indoor blower motors, sensors, communication and board faults | Water dripping from a head is often a drain or leveling problem, not a refrigerant problem. |
| Dual-fuel (heat pump with a gas furnace) | Outdoor unit faults, switchover settings, thermostat wiring | The furnace can keep the house warm while the heat pump side waits for a part. |
Many Everett homes with electric baseboard heat have added ductless heads over the last decade. We repair single-head and multi-zone systems, including one head that stops working while the others run. Home Comfort Alliance is a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer, and we service all major ductless brands.
If your heat pump is paired with a PSE gas furnace, we check both sides on the same visit. This page covers the heat pump side; for the gas side, see our furnace repair in Everett page.
Yes, we take heat pump emergencies in Everett at night and on weekends. We offer after-hours emergency HVAC service in every city we serve, and the after-hours fee is $330. Treat it as an emergency when the house is losing heat in freezing weather, you smell burning, or the breaker trips again after one reset.
While you wait, set the thermostat to emergency heat so the backup heat carries the house, and leave the outdoor unit alone if it is iced. Read what to do in a heat pump emergency for more safe steps.
Repair is usually the better choice when the system has been reliable and the fault is a single part. Replacement starts to make sense when:
Repairs do not qualify for utility rebates, but a replacement often does. In Everett, electricity comes from Snohomish County PUD and natural gas from PSE. Snohomish PUD offers $1,800 for a ducted heat pump conversion and $2,500 for a ducted inverter-driven heat pump in electrically heated homes, applied through a PUD registered contractor; its heating rebate page lists no ductless rebate today. Homes with a PSE gas furnace can get $1,500 to add a heat pump as a hybrid system, plus a $2,400 income-based Efficiency Boost. Amounts read October 2026.
Estimates on replacements are free. You can get a price range in about 30 seconds with our instant quote, read about heat pump installation in Everett, or compare heat pump rebates. When a repair turns into a replacement, the City of Everett issues the residential mechanical permit, and we pull it.

Every Everett visit follows the same five steps, day or night.

In late August a south Everett homeowner called because the indoor head of a Mitsubishi ductless heat pump was leaking water down the wall. Our technician found the head was leaning to the left, away from its drain connection on the right side. He poured a little water into the head to test it, and it ran straight down the wall: the condensate was pooling at the low end of the drain pan and overflowing. The fix was mechanical, not refrigerant: take the head off the wall and re-level its mounting bracket so the pan drains properly, a job our team booked with a second technician.

First check that the thermostat is set to heat. In cold, wet weather the unit may be in a defrost cycle, which can blow cool air for a few minutes. If it lasts longer, the cause may be a reversing valve, low refrigerant or a control fault, and a technician should diagnose it.
Light frost in winter is normal, and the defrost cycle should clear it. Ice that stays or keeps building means a defrost, airflow or refrigerant problem. Do not chip the ice. Switch to emergency heat and call us.
It is the backup heat, usually electric heat strips or a furnace. Aux heat helps the heat pump in very cold weather and during defrost. Emergency heat runs the backup alone. Use it while you wait for a repair, then call us, because backup heat alone costs more to run.
Long run times are normal in cold weather. Nonstop running on a mild day can point to a dirty filter, low refrigerant, a failing part or a thermostat problem. Our technician checks airflow, refrigerant and controls.
Yes. We repair single-head and multi-zone ductless systems, including a head that leaks or stops working while the others run. We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer and we service all major brands.
Repair is usually right if the system has been reliable and the fix is one part. Consider replacing if the compressor or coil fails on an older system, the system uses R-22, or the age times the repair cost is more than $5,000. We give you both options before any work starts.
No. Rebates apply to new equipment, not repairs. If you replace, Snohomish PUD offers $1,800 or $2,500 for a ducted heat pump in an electrically heated home, and PSE offers $1,500 to add a heat pump to a PSE gas furnace, plus a $2,400 income-based Efficiency Boost.
