The unit must be under 5.4 tons and meet the efficiency levels above. City Light's page does not say whether the discount covers ductless systems or multifamily homes, so we check the current rules for your home before we quote. Not sure which utility serves you? The City of Seattle's Clean Heat Program gives $2,000 off a qualified Mitsubishi Electric heat pump when it replaces oil heat, installed by a participating contractor. Households at 81% to 150% of area median income can add a $4,000 bonus, funded by Washington's HEAR program, on installations completed by May 30, 2027. Households below 81% of area median income can ask the Office of Housing about a no-cost conversion.

|---|---|
| 1 person | $81,700 to $172,650 |
| 4 people | $116,650 to $246,600 |
We are a participating Clean Heat contractor and a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer. The oil tank has to be decommissioned to Seattle Fire Department rules; you hire a certified tank decommissioner, and we install the heat pump. More on the switch: oil to heat pump conversion. Every heat pump we install in Seattle starts with a room-by-room ACCA Manual J load calculation, so the equipment and the City Light tier fit the house. We pull the City of Seattle permits and handle the City Light and Clean Heat paperwork, and most heat pump installations take between 4 and 10 hours, depending on the system type and how many systems we install. See heat pump installation in Seattle for local job details.
In early October 2026 we converted a home in Seattle's 98144 ZIP code from its old oil furnace to a 2-ton Mitsubishi Electric cold-climate heat pump with a matching air handler, backup heat strips and a new thermostat, under the City of Seattle's Clean Heat Program. We pulled the permits, completed the system startup, and put the program's sticker on the unit as Clean Heat requires. The top floor of the house has no ductwork, so we told the homeowners up front that it would run a little warmer in summer and cooler in winter than the floors below.

If Puget Sound Energy supplies your gas, PSE has a $1,500 hybrid rebate for a ducted heat pump added to a gas furnace (balance point 30°F or lower), with a further $2,400 Efficiency Boost for qualifying households, and an income-based $4,000 rebate for switching from gas to a heat pump, applied for within 30 days (PSE hybrid heat pump rebate). We check which combination pays you the most. Neither program's page says whether the City Light discount and Clean Heat can both apply to one job. When both programs approve the project, both come off your bid; we confirm with each program before quoting. See PSE rebates and Washington HEAR rebates; Energy Smart Eastside serves Eastside cities, not Seattle.
