Home Comfort Alliance repairs ducted, ductless and dual-fuel heat pumps across Bellevue from our Redmond branch. We offer after-hours emergency HVAC service in Bellevue; the after-hours fee is $330. On a regular visit the dispatch fee is $119 and a standard diagnostic is $72, and you approve a written price before any work begins.
Our office is open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and we offer same-day service when possible. If your heat pump stops overnight, switch the thermostat to emergency heat and call us.
Bellevue's damp, mild winters keep a heat pump running for long stretches, so small faults show up fast. Call us if you notice any of these:
More troubleshooting is in our heat pump repair guide.
Bellevue has everything from mid-century ramblers and split-levels with gas furnaces to newer homes, condos and townhomes on ductless systems. We work on all of them.
| Problem | Common cause | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Outdoor unit will not start | Capacitor, contactor, control board | The control signal and each part, before anything is replaced |
| Ice that keeps building | Defrost board or sensor, low airflow, low refrigerant | The defrost cycle, coil, filter and refrigerant charge |
| Cool air in heat mode | Reversing valve, refrigerant leak, metering device | Pressures, subcooling and superheat, and the valve |
| Short cycling or a high bill | Thermostat setup, sensors, aux heat staging | Thermostat settings and backup heat lockouts |
We repair capacitors and contactors, defrost boards, reversing valves, expansion valves, refrigerant leaks, fan motors and sensors. Most common parts are on the van.
We fix single-zone and multi-zone ductless systems, including one head down, drips, error codes and indoor blower problems. Home Comfort Alliance is a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer and won Gensco's Ductless and Multi-Zone Excellence awards for 2024 to 2025. See our ductless systems page for more.
Bellevue is in PSE gas territory, and many homes pair a heat pump with a gas furnace. We check the heat pump, the furnace and the switchover between them. This page covers the heat pump side; for a furnace problem, see furnace repair in Bellevue.
Mitsubishi Electric, Carrier, Lennox, Quilt and all other major brands. We are a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer and a Lennox Premier Dealer.
We offer after-hours emergency HVAC service in Bellevue. The after-hours fee is $330. Call right away for no heat in freezing weather, a burning smell, or a breaker that will not stay on.
While you wait, switch the thermostat to emergency heat so your backup heat keeps the house warm. Our emergency heat pump repair page lists what to do and what not to touch.
For a reliable system with one failed part, repair is usually the better value. These point toward replacing:
Repairs do not qualify for rebates. When a new heat pump replaces a gas furnace or electric resistance heat inside Bellevue city limits, Energy Smart Eastside offers a $1,000 instant rebate through approved contractors, plus a bonus of up to $5,000 for income-qualified, fully electric homes. PSE, which supplies Bellevue's electricity and gas, offers $1,500 for converting electric resistance heat and $1,500 for adding a ducted heat pump to a PSE gas furnace, with a $2,400 income-based Efficiency Boost. Amounts read October 2026. Home Comfort Alliance is an Energy Smart Eastside approved contractor and a PSE Trade Ally. If you are replacing an existing heat pump, ask us which programs apply before you plan around a rebate.
Replacement estimates are free, and our instant quote gives you a price range online. See heat pump installation in Bellevue, our heat pump cost guide and current heat pump rebates.

Bellevue permits: the City of Bellevue requires a mechanical permit to install or replace a heat pump, and an electrical permit when wiring is part of the job. Part-only repairs do not need a permit. We pull the required permits for every installation. Here is what happens on a repair call.

In early October 2026 our technician returned to a south Bellevue home (98006) to replace a faulty indoor expansion valve on a Carrier heat pump. That valve meters refrigerant into the indoor coil, and when it fails the system cannot heat or cool properly. He recovered the refrigerant, opened the indoor coil cabinet, and purged the lines with nitrogen while removing the old valve and the bi-flow filter drier at the outdoor unit. With the new valve and drier brazed in, he evacuated the system to 250 microns, recharged it and confirmed 13 degrees of subcooling on the test run.

It depends on the part that failed. Our dispatch fee is $119 and our standard diagnostic is $72, and you get an upfront price before any work begins. Angi puts most Seattle-area heat pump repairs at $220 to $2,220 (regional estimate, May 2026).
Yes. The dispatch (trip) fee is $119. A standard diagnostic is $72 and a deeper diagnostic is $130. After-hours visits carry a $330 fee. Replacement estimates are free.
First check that the thermostat is set to heat. In cold, wet weather the unit may be in a defrost cycle, which can blow cool air for a few minutes. If it lasts longer, the cause may be a reversing valve, low refrigerant or a failed expansion valve, and a technician should diagnose it.
Some frost in winter is normal, and the defrost cycle should clear it. Ice that stays or keeps building points to a defrost, airflow or refrigerant problem. Do not chip the ice. Switch to emergency heat and call us.
It is your backup heat, usually electric strips or a gas furnace. Aux heat helps the heat pump in very cold weather. Emergency heat runs the backup alone. Use it while you wait for a repair, because backup heat alone costs more to run.
Yes. We repair ductless and mini-split systems, including multi-zone systems with one head not working. We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer and we service all major brands.
Yes. Many Bellevue homes run a heat pump with a PSE gas furnace as backup. We check the heat pump, the furnace and the switchover between them. For a furnace-only problem, see furnace repair in Bellevue.
Repair is usually right if the system has been reliable and the fix is small. Consider replacing if the compressor or coil fails on an older system, it uses R-22, or the age times the repair cost is more than $5,000. We give you both options before work starts, and replacement estimates are free.
No. Rebates apply to new equipment, not repairs. Energy Smart Eastside offers a $1,000 instant rebate when a qualifying heat pump replaces an existing furnace or electric resistance heat in Bellevue, plus a bonus of up to $5,000 for income-qualified, fully electric homes. Home Comfort Alliance is an Energy Smart Eastside approved contractor.
