A recent Redmond job: heat pump stuck on backup heat
In October 2026 an east Redmond Home Comfort Club member called because their heat pump had stopped running and the house was heating on backup (auxiliary) heat only. Our technician found the heat pump had shut itself off on a refrigerant pressure safety.
He reset it, ran it in heating mode, checked the refrigerant pressures and subcooling, measured a 29 degree temperature rise across the system and forced a defrost cycle. Everything tested normal. Because this kind of lockout usually happens when an indoor or outdoor fan stops mid-cycle, he showed the homeowner what to watch for, so a repeat can be traced to its cause instead of guessed at.
