Kenmore utilities and rebates (updated September 2026)
Kenmore households buy both electricity and natural gas from Puget Sound Energy, and get water and sewer service from Northshore Utility District, which is headquartered in the city (City of Kenmore, utility providers). Because PSE is the only energy utility, its rebate programs are the ones to plan around:
- Leaving electric resistance heat: $1,500 when a heat pump replaces baseboards, wall heaters or an electric furnace, and up to $2,400 more for households that qualify for Efficiency Boost (PSE electric resistance to heat pump rebate).
- Keeping the gas furnace: $1,500, plus up to $2,400 through Efficiency Boost, for pairing it with a heat pump (PSE hybrid heat pump rebate).
- Hot water: $1,000 for a qualifying heat pump water heater, $1,100 with Efficiency Boost (PSE heat pump water heater rebate).
PSE requires a Trade Ally or registered installer for its heating rebates. Home Comfort Alliance is a PSE Trade Ally for HVAC and water heaters.
Living by the lake
Kenmore’s identity is tied to the water. Between the Burke-Gilman Trail along the lakeshore, the Sammamish River, Swamp Creek and the floatplanes at Kenmore Air, a lot of Kenmore life happens near the water. For homes near the lake and river, that means damp air in the cooler months, crawlspaces and lower levels that need good drainage, and outdoor units that should sit on raised pads. Winters here are damp and cool and summers mild and dry, so heating runs for much of the year and a heat pump that also cools earns its keep.
