Our phones are answered 24/7, heating technicians work after hours for no-heat emergencies, and same-day service is available when possible. Smell gas in the house? Don't touch light switches or the thermostat. Get everyone outside, then call 911 or Puget Sound Energy at 1-888-225-5773 from outside (PSE gas leak steps). Call us once the utility says the home is safe.
Book a repair visit if you notice any of these in your Seattle home:
If none of those bring the heat back, leave the rest to a technician. For a deeper list of symptoms, see our furnace repair guide.
Seattle houses heat with a mix of systems: natural gas furnaces on Puget Sound Energy service, electric forced-air furnaces on Seattle City Light, and in older homes, oil furnaces. The parts that fail are different for each.
| Furnace type | Parts we replace most | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Natural gas (PSE) | Ignitor, flame sensor, pilot assembly on older units, draft inducer motor, pressure switch, gas valve, control board, blower motor | We check venting and the heat exchanger on every gas repair, because a crack can leak carbon monoxide |
| Electric forced air (Seattle City Light) | Heating elements, sequencers and relays, blower motor, transformer, breakers | A breaker that trips again after a reset needs a technician, not another reset |
| Oil | We assess the system and talk through repair or a switch | Seattle's Clean Heat Program pays rebates to switch from oil to a heat pump; see heat pumps in Seattle |
We service all major furnace brands, Lennox included, and Home Comfort Alliance is a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer.
Our heating technicians work after hours, so a Seattle furnace that quits at night or on a weekend can be looked at the same night. Call (425) 645-0404 at any hour. The after-hours fee is $330, and we tell you that up front, before a technician is sent.
While you wait: close doors to rooms you aren't using, keep everyone in one warm room, and use only space heaters made for indoor use, plugged straight into a wall outlet. Never heat the house with a gas oven, a grill or a camp stove. More on emergency furnace repair, including when a problem can safely wait for morning.

Most furnaces under about 15 years old with a first or second repair are worth fixing. Lean toward replacing when two or more of these are true:
Our technician will tell you plainly which way they would go. Replacement estimates are free; see furnace replacement in Seattle. If you are thinking of going electric, Seattle City Light offers instant discounts on qualifying heat pumps, and oil-heated homes can get a Clean Heat rebate. Home Comfort Alliance is an approved Seattle City Light contractor and a participating contractor in the City of Seattle's Clean Heat Program.
In late September 2026, a West Seattle homeowner booked a visit online because their gas furnace had started making a high-pitched noise, and they had turned it off. Our technician traced the noise to worn bearings in the draft inducer motor, the fan that pushes exhaust out of the furnace. The same worn motor explained why the furnace had been slow to start. He also found the ignitor beginning to fail.
The homeowner approved a repair to replace the inducer motor, its capacitor and the ignitor, and added a whole-home duct cleaning and a new UV light bulb while we were there. The furnace is a Lennox gas furnace, one of the many brands we repair, and the home is on Puget Sound Energy gas.

Home Comfort Alliance has served Puget Sound homes since 1977. Nearby, see all our Seattle services or our other city furnace repair pages for Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner and Bremerton.

If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or Puget Sound Energy at 1-888-225-5773 from outside. For no heat with no gas smell, check the thermostat, breaker and filter, then call a heating contractor such as Home Comfort Alliance at (425) 645-0404.
Yes. We repair natural gas furnaces on PSE service and electric forced-air furnaces on Seattle City Light, plus the blowers, controls and thermostats that run them.
Yes. We service all major furnace brands, including Lennox, and we are a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer.
Short cycling is most often caused by a clogged filter that lets the furnace overheat, a dirty flame sensor that shuts the burners off, a thermostat problem, or a furnace that is too large for the house. Change the filter first; if it keeps happening, book a repair.
Yes. Newer gas furnaces light with a hot surface ignitor, and older ones use a standing pilot. Our ignitor replacement price is $353 to $821 (September 2026), and pilot and flame sensor problems are often fixed on the first visit.
Sometimes. Dead batteries, the wrong mode or a failed thermostat can all look like a broken furnace. Our technician tests the thermostat as part of the diagnosis, and thermostat replacement runs $299 to $1,840 depending on the model.
The technician checks the motor, its capacitor and its control. A capacitor is a smaller repair; a full motor replacement costs more, and Angi lists Seattle blower motor repairs at $160 to $2,160 (August 2026).
Often replace, especially if the repair is large or the heat exchanger is cracked. The $5,000 rule helps: multiply the furnace age by the repair price, and if the result is over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense. Replacement estimates are free.
On gas furnaces, a failed ignitor or a dirty flame sensor is the most common cause of no heat. On electric furnaces, it is usually a heating element, a sequencer or a tripped breaker.
