We install, maintain and repair standby generators from Generac and other major generator brands. A standby generator sits outside on a pad, runs on natural gas or propane, and starts on its own through an automatic transfer switch within moments of an outage. A portable generator is cheaper but has to be wheeled out, fueled and run outdoors, well away from doors and windows.
Generator maintenance is $465. Current offer: $1,000 off generators (special offers). Cost ranges and sizing help are on our standby generator page; for an existing unit see generator maintenance and repair. Nearby, we also install generators in Tacoma.
In Fife, Tacoma Power supplies electricity to most homes and Puget Sound Energy supplies natural gas, according to the City of Fife. The City also lists PSE as an electric provider, so check the name on your power bill: Tacoma Power customers qualify for the incentives below, and PSE electric customers use PSE's rebates instead. Home Comfort Alliance is an approved contractor for both and handles the paperwork.
| Tacoma Power heat pump incentive | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ductless heat pump, 1 to 4 indoor units | $1,000 |
| Ductless heat pump, 5 or more indoor units | $650 |
| Air-source heat pump | $1,000 |
| Variable-speed heat pump replacing an electric forced-air furnace | $2,000 |
| Variable-speed heat pump replacing non-electric heat or an existing heat pump | $1,000 |
| Financing for electrically heated homes | 0% loans up to $20,000 over 7 years |

Fife homes on the valley floor near the Puyallup River see a lot of rain in winter, which makes sump pumps, crawlspace water heaters and frozen-pipe prep worth a look before the wet season.
Electrical permits and inspections in Fife are issued by Tacoma Power, as both the City of Fife and Washington L&I state. That covers generator, panel, EV charger and heat pump wiring. Mechanical, plumbing and building permits, such as for a new furnace, heat pump, water heater or gas line, go through the City of Fife's permit center at City Hall, which takes applications online. We pull the required permits for every installation.

In late September 2026, a new customer in Fife booked a tune-up for their oil furnace. Our technician replaced the nozzle, oil filter and air filter, then cleaned the burner's blast tube, end cone, firing assembly and combustion air intake. On the first test run, the cad cell (the sensor that tells the burner it has lit) read far out of range, so he replaced it. When the flame then turned erratic and smoky, he fitted another new nozzle and tuned the burner until it ran clean. He finished by oiling the blower motor and realigning its belt before a final test. The homeowner joined the Home Comfort Club for next year's visit.
We maintain and repair oil, gas and electric furnaces in Fife, and we can talk through switching from oil to a heat pump with Tacoma Power's incentives.
