Smell gas or hear a carbon monoxide alarm? Get everyone outside first. From outside, call 911 or Puget Sound Energy, which supplies Redmond's gas and electricity, at 1-888-225-5773 (PSE gas leak steps). Call us once it is safe to go back in.
Still no heat? Call us. Write down any flashing code; it speeds up the diagnosis.
Puget Sound Energy supplies both natural gas and electricity in Redmond, so most homes here heat with a PSE gas furnace, an electric furnace, or a furnace paired with a heat pump. We repair all three on every major brand.
| System | Common repairs | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Gas furnace | Ignitor, flame sensor, inducer motor, pressure switch, control board | Every gas visit includes a carbon monoxide and venting check. |
| Variable-speed (ECM) blower | Blower motor module, motor, control board communication faults | ECM modules are sensitive to power surges and outages. |
| Electric furnace | Heating elements, sequencers, limit switches | Electric heat is where a heat pump saves the most on PSE bills. |
When the heat goes out at night or on a weekend, call (425) 645-0404. Our heating technicians take after-hours no-heat calls in Redmond. The after-hours fee is $330, listed on its own line apart from the dispatch and diagnostic fees. Weekday visits, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, are billed at regular rates, with same-day service when the schedule allows.
Until the technician arrives, keep doors closed to hold heat, use space heaters safely and away from curtains, and never run a gas oven or grill indoors. More on what to do in our emergency furnace repair guide.

A furnace under about 15 years old with one failed part is usually worth fixing. Past 15 to 20 years, with repeat breakdowns or a cracked heat exchanger, a replacement is often the better money. One quick test: furnace age multiplied by the repair price; when it tops $5,000, ask for a replacement price too.
Redmond homeowners have more rebate options than most of the region when they replace. Energy Smart Eastside gives a $1,000 instant rebate on a Mitsubishi, Bryant/Carrier or Day & Night heat pump installed by a network contractor, plus a $5,000 bonus for qualifying moderate-income homes that go fully electric, up to $6,000 in total. PSE pays $1,500 to add a ducted heat pump to a PSE gas furnace (up to $2,400 with its income-based Efficiency Boost), and up to $4,000 to income-qualified gas customers who switch to a heat pump. Amounts read on the program sites on 9 October 2026; we are an approved contractor for both programs. The federal 25C tax credit ended on 31 December 2025.

On an after-hours call in late September, an east Redmond family's gas furnace would not come on at all. Our technician found error code 201: the control board was not communicating with the blower motor module. With the homeowner's approval he replaced the variable-speed blower module, cycled the power and tested both the fan and the heat; the code cleared and the furnace ran properly. The furnace was more than 10 years old and past its parts warranty. Because these modules are sensitive to brownouts and outages, he recommended surge protection for the furnace, or a whole-home surge protector at the electrical panel.

Our Redmond branch serves Education Hill, Overlake, Grass Lawn, Idylwood, Willows/Rose Hill, Bear Creek, Downtown, Southeast Redmond, North Redmond and the Sammamish Valley, along with nearby Kirkland, Bellevue, Woodinville, Sammamish and Bothell. East of Redmond, we also cover furnace repair in Duvall.
The City of Redmond issues its own mechanical, electrical and plumbing permits through the Redmond ePermitting Service (REPS), so a furnace replacement inside city limits is permitted by the city rather than WA L&I. We pull the required permits for every installation.

Yes. Our heating technicians handle after-hours no-heat calls in Redmond, with a $330 after-hours dispatch fee.
Same-day visits are available when the schedule allows. Common parts ride on our vans, so many repairs finish on the first visit.
On many variable-speed furnaces it means the control board cannot communicate with the blower motor module. The fix is often the module, the board or the wiring between them; a technician tests each before replacing anything.
Outages and brownouts can damage electronic parts such as control boards and variable-speed blower modules. If the furnace shows an error code after power returns, book a visit, and ask about surge protection.
Short cycling usually comes from a clogged filter, a dirty flame sensor, an overheating limit switch or a thermostat problem. A technician finds which one by watching a full cycle.
Often yes for one inexpensive part. Multiply the age by the repair cost; above $5,000, compare a replacement price, especially with Energy Smart Eastside and PSE heat pump rebates available in Redmond.
Energy Smart Eastside offers a $1,000 instant heat pump rebate plus a $5,000 bonus for qualifying moderate-income homes going fully electric, and PSE offers $1,500 to $4,000 depending on the system and income (October 2026). Repairs do not qualify.
