Home Comfort Alliance's licensed plumbers do drain cleaning in Seattle homes. We clear clogged indoor drains: kitchen and bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, laundry drains and the drain pipes inside your house. We clear indoor drains, including main drain lines from an indoor cleanout. We don't do sewer line work.
Drain cleaning is $148 and hydro jet cleaning is $399 to $574. The $99 plumbing dispatch fee is charged on top of the drain cleaning price, and you get the price before any work begins. Book by phone or online. Our plumbers work Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with same-day service when possible.
One slow drain is usually a quick fix. Several slow drains at once tell us where to look, as the next section explains.
Where the water backs up tells you where the clog is, and who can clear it. Seattle Public Utilities splits it the same way: a plumber for fixtures and the pipes inside the house, and a rooter service or side sewer contractor for the side sewer that runs from your house to the city sewer.
| What you see | Where the clog usually is | Who clears it |
|---|---|---|
| One sink, tub, shower or toilet is slow or blocked | That fixture's drain or trap | Our plumbers (drain cleaning, $148) |
| Two fixtures on the same floor are slow, such as a sink and a tub | The branch drain line they share | Our plumbers |
| Flushing a toilet backs water up into a tub, shower or floor drain on the lowest level | The main drain line inside the house | Our plumbers, from an indoor cleanout |
| Sewage comes up from a floor drain or yard cleanout, roots keep returning, or the pipe outside is broken | The side sewer outside the house | A rooter service or side sewer contractor (we don't do sewer line work) |

Grease, food scraps and coffee grounds build up in the trap and the pipe behind the wall. Kitchen lines that clog again and again are the most common reason we recommend hydro jet cleaning.
Hair, soap and toothpaste collect in the trap and the first few feet of pipe. A cable usually clears these in one pass.
Wipes, too much paper or a dropped object. If the toilet backs up into a tub or floor drain when you flush, the main drain line is the likely spot.
Lint and soap from the washer can slow the standpipe and the drain it empties into.
When several drains back up at once, we clear the main drain line from a cleanout inside the house. That is where our work stops: we don't do sewer line work.
| Method | How it works | Best for | Our price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drain cleaning (cable or snake) | A rotating cable breaks up the clog and pulls it out of the pipe | Single-fixture clogs: hair, wipes, a toilet blockage, a dropped object | $148 |
| Hydro jet cleaning | A high-pressure stream of water scours build-up off the inside of the pipe walls | Grease and sludge build-up and clogs that keep coming back in indoor drain lines | $399 to $574 |
Your plumber looks at the drain first and recommends one method. You get the price before any work begins, and nothing is done until you approve it.
We clear indoor drains, including main drain lines from an indoor cleanout. We don't do sewer line work. That means we don't repair, replace or camera-inspect sewer lines or side sewers.
In Seattle, if you own your home, you also own your side sewer, the pipe that runs from the house to the public sewer (Seattle Public Utilities). For a clog in that pipe, SPU suggests a rooter service. For a broken or leaking side sewer, it suggests a side sewer contractor. Tree roots in the line, sewage coming up from a floor drain or a yard cleanout, and drains on every floor backing up at once are signs the problem is in the side sewer. If sewage is backing up into your home, SPU asks you to call them as well; their contact details are in the SPU troubleshooting guide.
Not sure which side of the house the clog is on? Tell us what you see when you book, and we'll tell you honestly if it isn't a job for us.

In October 2026 one of our plumbers visited a home in Seattle's Central District where the kitchen garbage disposal was leaking from the bottom. The plumber installed a new 1/2 HP disposal, reconnected it to the existing kitchen sink drain and power, and tested it: it ran with no leaks. It wasn't a clog, but it was on the same kitchen sink drain our drain cleaning covers.

At Home Comfort Alliance, drain cleaning is $148 and hydro jet cleaning is $399 to $574 (prices as of September 2026). The $99 plumbing dispatch fee is charged on top of the drain cleaning price. You get the price before any work begins. For comparison, Angi's regional estimate for drain cleaning in Seattle is an average of $373 (updated February 2026).
Snaking (drain cleaning, $148) works for most single-fixture clogs, such as hair or a toilet blockage. Hydro jetting ($399 to $574) scours grease and build-up off the inside of the pipe and suits kitchen lines that keep clogging. Your plumber recommends one after checking the drain.
Often, yes. If two fixtures on the same floor are slow, it is usually a shared indoor line. If flushing a toilet backs water up into a lower drain, the main drain line is likely blocked, and we clear it from an indoor cleanout. If sewage comes up from a floor drain or the yard, the problem is probably in the side sewer, which we don't work on.
No. We clear indoor drains, including main drain lines from an indoor cleanout. We don't do sewer line work, and we don't repair, replace or camera-inspect sewer lines or side sewers.
According to Seattle Public Utilities, if you own your home you also own your side sewer, up to the public sewer. For a clog in the side sewer, SPU suggests a rooter service; for a broken or leaking side sewer, a side sewer contractor.
Our plumbers work Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and we don't offer after-hours plumbing service. Book by phone or online: a request made after hours is scheduled for the first available business-hours appointment, with same-day service when possible.
They may loosen a clog for a while, but repeated use can leave the blockage in place. If a drain keeps clogging, have a plumber clear it mechanically.
Seattle Public Utilities lists wipes among the items that block pipes. Only toilet paper should go down the toilet.
Usually because the build-up was only partly cleared, or the same things keep going down the drain: grease, hair and soap. Hydro jet cleaning removes build-up along the pipe walls in indoor lines. If clogs keep returning across the whole house, the side sewer may be the cause.
