Gas smell or a carbon monoxide alarm? Leave the house with everyone, then call 911 or Puget Sound Energy at 1-888-225-5773. PSE supplies both gas and electricity in Woodinville (PSE gas leak steps). Wait for the utility to clear the home before calling us back.
A furnace rarely fails without a warning. Call when you notice any of these:
If none of that brings the heat back, note any blinking pattern and call. Our furnace won't turn on guide covers these steps in more detail.
Woodinville has everything from older split-levels with standard gas furnaces to newer homes with variable-speed and communicating systems. We repair them all, on every major brand.
| System | Typical repairs | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Standard gas furnace | Ignitor, flame sensor, gas valve, limit switches, control board | We check venting and carbon monoxide on every gas call. |
| High-efficiency (condensing) furnace | Condensate trap and drain, pressure switch, inducer motor | A blocked drain can shut the furnace down with no other fault. |
| Variable-speed or communicating furnace | Blower module, control board, thermostat communication faults | We are a Lennox Premier Dealer and a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, so we know these controls well. |
| Electric furnace | Heating elements, sequencers, relays | Often the best candidate for a switch to a heat pump later. |
Our phones are answered and bookings are accepted 24/7. Heating and cooling technicians work during business hours and are available after hours for qualifying emergencies ($330 after-hours fee), such as no heat in cold weather or a burning or electrical smell.
Regular visits run Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with same-day service when possible. If you are waiting overnight, close off unused rooms, keep space heaters three feet from anything that can burn, and never use a gas range or grill for heat.

If the furnace is under about 15 years old and one part has failed, fixing it is usually the better value. If it is older, has needed several repairs, or the technician finds a cracked heat exchanger, get a replacement price before paying for a big repair. Age times repair cost above $5,000 is a common signal to compare.
Woodinville homes on PSE gas can keep the furnace and add a heat pump; PSE pays $1,500 for that hybrid setup, plus up to $2,400 through its income-based Efficiency Boost (pse.com, October 2026). Energy Smart Eastside does not cover Woodinville. See furnace replacement in Woodinville or heat pumps in Woodinville, and try the instant HVAC quote for a range in about 30 seconds.
The City of Woodinville lists Puget Sound Energy as the provider of both natural gas and electricity for its residents. Not every Woodinville address is inside city limits: Cottage Lake and Hollywood Hill are unincorporated King County, and Maltby is unincorporated Snohomish County. We work in all of them.
No permit is needed for a part-only repair. Replacing a furnace, or new gas line work, needs a mechanical permit from the City of Woodinville inside city limits (city permit FAQ), or from King or Snohomish County outside them. Electrical permits come from Washington L&I. We pull the required permits for every installation.

In October a Woodinville gas furnace stopped heating. Our technician traced the problem to the control board: on a call for heat, the board was sending about 20 volts to the inducer motor instead of the 120 volts the motor needs, so the furnace could never start its heating cycle. He explained the fault, recommended replacing the board, and planned a recheck of the inducer motor for any damage once the new board was in.
