Home Comfort Alliance installs ducted heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and dual fuel systems on Bainbridge Island, WA, from our Bremerton branch. Every job starts with a free in-home estimate and a room-by-room ACCA Manual J load calculation, we pull the City of Bainbridge Island permit, and qualifying systems carry PSE's instant discount of $300 to $600 (as of October 2026).

Bainbridge Island has no natural gas utility: Puget Sound Energy lists Kitsap County as electric-only service, and Cascade Natural Gas does not list the island among its communities. Island furnaces run on electricity, propane or heating oil.
| How the home heats now | Usual best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Electric baseboards or wall heaters | Ductless heat pump | No ducts needed, room-by-room control, and PSE's $1,500 conversion rebate |
| Electric furnace | Ducted heat pump on the existing ducts | Uses the ducts you have; same PSE conversion rebate |
| Propane or oil furnace | Dual fuel heat pump, or a heat pump that replaces the furnace | The heat pump carries most of the winter; the furnace backs it up if you keep it |
| No ducts, older or cabin-style home | Ductless heads or a short-run ducted unit | Fits homes that never had ductwork |
| Aging heat pump | Variable-speed replacement | Quieter, steadier heat; PSE upgrade rebate for ducted all-electric systems |
Your price depends on your home's heating and cooling needs, the add-ons you need, how many rooms the system serves and where it's installed. Get a price range in about 30 seconds with our free instant quote tool, then a technician confirms the exact price on a free site visit.
Regional benchmark, not our price: Angi lists Seattle-area heat pump installations at about $6,667 to $13,852, with an average of $10,218 (updated July 8, 2026, Angi). Ductwork changes, an electrical panel upgrade, several ductless zones and cold-climate equipment push the price up. Our heat pump cost guide explains the drivers.
| Program | Amount | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| PSE electric resistance to heat pump | $1,500, plus up to $2,400 Efficiency Boost | Homes whose main heat is PSE electric resistance (baseboards, wall heaters, electric furnace); not homes that already have a heat pump in the main living area |
| PSE heat pump to heat pump upgrade | $1,500, plus up to $2,400 Efficiency Boost | Out-of-warranty, centrally ducted all-electric heat pumps; ductless and dual fuel excluded |
| PSE instant discount | $300, $400 or $600 | Qualifying new heat pumps, taken off the invoice |
PSE's enhanced Bainbridge Island rebates ended December 31, 2025; projects installed from January 1, 2026 use PSE's standard programs (PSE Bainbridge update). Oil and propane homes do not qualify for the $1,500 conversion rebate, but can still get the instant discount. The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. Home Comfort Alliance is a PSE Trade Ally, we check which option pays you the most, and we handle the rebate paperwork for you.

Island winters are cool and wet rather than severe; the 2021 Seattle Energy Code lists a 29°F winter design temperature for nearby Bremerton, which cold-climate heat pumps handle without strain. Most installs keep a backup: electric heat strips in the air handler, or the existing propane or oil furnace in a dual fuel setup. Because island power outages tend to run longer than for many PSE customers, ask us about a standby generator sized to run the heat pump.
The City requires a mechanical permit to add or replace a heat pump (City permit information), and the island zoning code gives outdoor heat pump units no setback allowance (BIMC 18.12). Washington limits residential equipment noise to 55 dBA at a neighbor's property, 45 dBA at night (WAC 173-60-040), which shapes where the unit goes on tight lots.
Home Comfort Alliance is a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer, a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, a Lennox Premier Dealer and a Quilt dealer. We explain efficiency in plain terms: SEER2 rates cooling efficiency, HSPF2 rates heating efficiency, and higher numbers cost less to run. Variable-speed outdoor units hold heat better in cold, damp weather and run quieter.

In October we returned to a Bainbridge Island home for first-year maintenance on the three Mitsubishi Electric systems installed there about a year earlier: a multi-zone outdoor unit serving several rooms, and a ducted system with its own outdoor unit and air handler, all on MHK2 controls.
First-year maintenance is included with every new installation, and it keeps the 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty active.

Home Comfort Alliance was an installer in the City of Bainbridge Island Heat Pump Pilot, run with the nonprofit Kicking Gas for low- and moderate-income households; the pilot helped install 20 heat pumps between June 2024 and August 2025 (Bainbridge Review). Kicking Gas lists our Bremerton branch as its partner installer for Kitsap County (Kicking Gas installers), so ask us whether a current Kicking Gas program fits your home.
3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation. Home Comfort Club HVAC plans are $15 a month (membership plans).

It depends on the home, the equipment and the installation, so we give a written price after a free in-home visit; our instant quote tool shows a range in about 30 seconds. As a regional benchmark, Angi lists Seattle-area heat pump installations at about $6,667 to $13,852 (July 2026).
As of October 2026: PSE pays $1,500 to replace electric resistance heat, $1,500 to upgrade an out-of-warranty ducted all-electric heat pump, each with up to $2,400 more through Efficiency Boost, and $300, $400 or $600 instant discounts on qualifying units.
PSE's enhanced Bainbridge Island rebates ended December 31, 2025. Heat pumps installed from January 1, 2026 use PSE's standard programs.
PSE's $1,500 conversion rebate is only for homes heated by PSE electric resistance heat. Oil and propane homes can still get PSE's instant discount on a qualifying heat pump.
Yes, for HVAC and water heaters, so we can install equipment for PSE programs that require a Trade Ally.
Yes. The City of Bainbridge Island requires a mechanical permit to add or replace a heat pump, and electrical permits come from Washington L&I. We pull them.
Outside required setbacks and buffers, shown on the permit site plan. State rules limit residential equipment noise to 55 dBA at the neighbor's property, 45 dBA at night.
Ductless heads are usually the simplest fit for homes that never had ducts. A ducted unit makes sense where there is room for short duct runs or existing ducts in good shape.
You can. A dual fuel system lets the heat pump do most of the heating and the furnace take over on the coldest days. If you remove an oil system, you hire a certified tank decommissioner for the tank.
Yes. The winter design temperature for nearby Bremerton is 29°F, and cold-climate heat pumps keep heating well below that.
3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation.
