Usually, yes. Buckley has everything from older homes near Main Street to farmhouses and newer plateau subdivisions, and what you heat with today decides the best setup and the PSE rebate.
| What you heat with today | Usual heat pump option | PSE rebate to check |
|---|---|---|
| Electric baseboards or wall heaters | Ductless mini-split, or ducted if you have ducts | $1,500 electric resistance conversion |
| Electric furnace | Ducted heat pump on the existing ducts | $1,500 electric resistance conversion |
| PSE gas furnace | Hybrid (dual fuel): heat pump plus your furnace | $1,500 hybrid; $4,000 if income-qualified and switching off gas |
| Propane or oil | Ducted or ductless heat pump, with propane as backup or gone | No PSE heat pump rebate for these fuels today; we check other options |
| Older heat pump, out of warranty | Cold-climate ducted replacement | $1,500 heat pump upgrade |
We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer, Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Lennox Premier Dealer and Quilt dealer, and we service all major brands.
Buckley sits higher and closer to the Cascade foothills than the Puyallup valley, so winter nights can run colder than in Sumner or Auburn. We size every heat pump with an ACCA Manual J load calculation, room by room, rather than matching the old equipment, and we recommend cold-climate models, backup heat or a hybrid setup with your gas furnace where your home needs it.
Your price depends on the system type, the size your home needs, ductwork and electrical work, and where the outdoor unit goes. Regional benchmark, not our price: Angi lists Seattle-area heat pump installations at about $6,667 to $13,852, averaging $10,218 (updated July 8, 2026, Angi).
Puget Sound Energy supplies electricity and natural gas in Buckley.
| PSE program | Amount | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Electric resistance to heat pump | $1,500, plus up to $2,400 Efficiency Boost | Homes heated by baseboards, wall heaters or an electric furnace (ducted, or fully ductless) |
| Hybrid heat pump (dual fuel) | $1,500 | PSE gas furnace homes; ducted; balance point 30°F or lower |
| Heat pump to heat pump upgrade | $1,500 | Out-of-warranty, centrally ducted all-electric heat pumps; cold-climate equipment |
| Income-qualified gas to heat pump | $4,000 | Income-qualified PSE gas customers; ducted or ductless; apply within 30 days of install |
| Instant discount | $300, $400 or $600 | Qualifying new heat pumps, by efficiency tier; one unit per retrofit |
Ductless systems qualify for the electric resistance conversion and the income-qualified gas switch, but not for the hybrid or upgrade rebates. Some PSE rebates cannot be combined, so we check which option pays you the most. The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. Home Comfort Alliance is a PSE Trade Ally, and we handle the rebate paperwork for you (PSE rebates).

Inside city limits, the City of Buckley Permit Center at 933 Main Street handles the building side of a heat pump installation. Washington L&I issues the electrical permit. Homes outside city limits go through Pierce County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
A heat pump needs a dedicated circuit, and some older panels lack the space or capacity. We check your panel on the estimate visit, and our licensed electricians handle any upgrade (panel upgrades, WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
A heat pump needs power to heat, so in an outage it stops like an electric furnace would. If outages are common on your road, ask us about a standby generator sized to run it.
Signs it is time: frequent repairs, weak heat on cold nights, rising bills, or a system that uses R-22 refrigerant. If your heat pump is out of warranty and centrally ducted, PSE's $1,500 upgrade rebate can help when you move to a cold-climate model. Not sure? Read repair or replace a heat pump, or see heat pump replacement.
New installations come with a 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation.
Home Comfort Club plans are $15 a month per trade (HVAC, plumbing or electrical) or $30 a month for all three, with yearly maintenance or inspections and member pricing (membership plans).
We install heat pumps across Buckley (98321) and nearby communities from our Sumner headquarters at 1524 45th St E, Suite 102, along the SR-410 corridor. Nearby, see our Bonney Lake, Sumner and Auburn heat pump pages.
In May 2026 we replaced the heating system in a Buckley home with a Carrier hybrid setup: a new Carrier Performance gas furnace, a 3-ton Carrier heat pump, a matching indoor coil, a new thermostat and a new filter. The crew reused the home's existing electrical circuit and refrigerant lines, pulled the permits and started up the complete system.
Because the heat pump was added to a PSE gas furnace, the home qualified for PSE's $1,500 hybrid heat pump rebate. We took it off the price up front and claimed it from PSE ourselves.

Your price depends on your home's heating and cooling needs, the add-ons you need, how many rooms the system serves and where it's installed. Get a price range in about 30 seconds with our free instant quote tool, then a technician confirms the exact price on a free site visit. For reference, Angi puts the Seattle-area average at $10,218 (July 2026), before rebates.
Buckley homes are on PSE for electricity and gas, so the main options are $1,500 to replace electric resistance heat, $1,500 to add a ducted heat pump to a PSE gas furnace, $1,500 to upgrade an out-of-warranty ducted heat pump, and $4,000 for income-qualified gas customers switching to a heat pump. A $2,400 income-based boost can add to the first three. Amounts checked October 2026.
Yes. If your equipment qualifies, PSE's instant discount ($300, $400 or $600 by efficiency tier) comes straight off your invoice. We check which option pays you the most.
A ductless or ducted heat pump is the usual upgrade, and PSE pays $1,500 when it replaces electric resistance heat. Ductless systems must be variable-speed, at least 3/4 ton, with an indoor head in the main living area.
PSE's heat pump rebates are written for homes heated by PSE electric resistance heat, PSE natural gas or an existing electric heat pump, so propane heat doesn't qualify for them today. A heat pump can still cut your propane use, and we size it so propane becomes backup or goes away.
Yes. A hybrid system lets the heat pump do most of the heating and the furnace take over on the coldest nights. PSE pays $1,500 for adding a ducted heat pump to a PSE gas furnace when the system switches over at 30°F or lower.
Yes, when it is sized for your home. We run a room-by-room Manual J load calculation on every installation and recommend cold-climate models or gas backup where your home needs it.
Yes. Inside city limits the City of Buckley Permit Center handles the building side, and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit. Homes outside city limits go through Pierce County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
Most heat pump installations take between 4 and 10 hours, depending on the system type and how many systems we install.
A 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation.
A heat pump tune-up is $230, or $180 for Home Comfort Club members, per piece of equipment.
