Home Comfort Alliance installs and replaces ducted, ductless and hybrid heat pumps across Lake Stevens from our Everett branch, with a room-by-room Manual J load calculation and the required permits on every installation. Snohomish PUD supplies Lake Stevens' electricity and PSE supplies natural gas. We are an approved contractor for Snohomish PUD and PSE, so a qualifying PUD rebate comes off your bill as reduced pricing. Estimates are free.

Usually, yes. A heat pump heats and cools with one system, and what you heat with today decides the best setup and whether the Snohomish PUD rebate applies.
| What you heat with today | Usual heat pump option | Rebate to check |
|---|---|---|
| Electric baseboards or cadet wall heaters | Ducted heat pump if you have ducts; ductless mini-split if not | PUD $1,800 or $2,500 for ducted systems |
| Electric furnace | Ducted heat pump on the existing ducts | PUD $1,800 or $2,500 |
| Gas furnace | Hybrid (dual fuel), or a full switch to a heat pump | No PUD rebate on gas heat; PSE hybrid rules checked on your account |
| Older heat pump | Replacement | We check what applies before we quote |
| Shop, garage or addition | Ductless mini-split | No PUD ductless rebate listed today |
We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer, Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Lennox Premier Dealer and Quilt dealer, and we service all major brands.
The heating design temperature for nearby Snohomish is 21°F under the Washington State Energy Code. We size every heat pump to it with an ACCA Manual J load calculation, room by room, rather than matching the old equipment. The PUD's standards also ask for a balance point of 30°F or lower on qualifying systems, so backup heat only comes on when it is needed. For colder spots, we can recommend a cold-climate heat pump.
Your price depends on the system type, the size your home needs, ductwork and electrical work, and where the outdoor unit goes. Regional benchmark, not our price: Angi lists Seattle-area heat pump installations at about $6,667 to $13,852, averaging $10,218 (updated July 8, 2026, Angi).
| Program | Amount | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Snohomish PUD ducted heat pump | $1,800 | Ducted heat pump of 7.5 HSPF2 and 13.8 SEER2 or better; electric heat is your primary heat; installed by a PUD registered contractor |
| Snohomish PUD inverter-driven ducted heat pump | $2,500 | Ducted inverter-driven heat pump of 8.5 HSPF2 or better; same rules |
| PSE hybrid heat pump | $1,500 | PSE natural gas customers adding a ducted heat pump to a gas furnace; we confirm eligibility on your account before quoting |
We are an approved contractor for Snohomish PUD, so the rebate comes off your bill as reduced pricing and we send the application to the PUD for you. The PUD lists no rebate for ductless systems today, and gas-heated homes don't qualify for the PUD rebate. The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025 (Snohomish PUD heating rebates, read October 30, 2026).

Inside city limits, the City of Lake Stevens Permit Center issues the mechanical permit, and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit. Addresses outside city limits, such as Machias, go through Snohomish County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
A heat pump needs a dedicated circuit, and some older panels lack the space or capacity. We check your panel on the estimate visit, and our licensed electricians handle any upgrade (panel upgrades, WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
Signs it is time: frequent repairs, weak heat in cold weather, rising bills, or a system that uses R-22 refrigerant. Snohomish PUD's rebate page does not cover replacing an existing heat pump, so we check what applies to your home before we quote. Not sure? Read repair or replace a heat pump, or see heat pump replacement.
New installations come with a 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation.
Home Comfort Club plans are $15 a month per trade (HVAC, plumbing or electrical) or $30 a month for all three, with yearly maintenance or inspections and member pricing (membership plans).
We install heat pumps across Lake Stevens (98258) and nearby Machias from our Everett branch. Nearby, see our Everett services and furnace replacement in Snohomish.
In September 2026 we added a Carrier Performance Series variable-speed heat pump to a Lake Stevens home's existing gas furnace, ductwork and electrical panel, turning it into a hybrid system. The heat pump now handles the cooling and most of the heating, and the furnace takes over on the coldest days.
The crew wired in the thermostat interface the system needed and completed the start-up and fire-off checks the same day. Because the home heats with gas, it was a hybrid project rather than a Snohomish PUD rebate job.

Your price depends on your home's heating and cooling needs, the add-ons you need, how many rooms the system serves and where it's installed. Get a price range in about 30 seconds with our free instant quote tool, then a technician confirms the exact price on a free site visit. For reference, Angi puts the Seattle-area average at $10,218 (regional estimate, July 2026), before rebates.
Lake Stevens homes get electricity from Snohomish PUD. The PUD pays $1,800 for a ducted heat pump (7.5 HSPF2 and 13.8 SEER2 or better) or $2,500 for a ducted inverter-driven heat pump (8.5 HSPF2 or better), when electric heat is your primary heat and a PUD registered contractor installs it. Amounts checked October 2026.
We are an approved contractor for Snohomish PUD, so the rebate comes off your bill as reduced pricing and we send the application to the PUD for you.
Snohomish PUD lists rebates for ducted heat pumps only today. We still install ductless systems for homes, additions and shops, and we check the PUD's current list before we quote.
The PUD rebate needs electric heat as your primary heat, so gas-heated homes don't qualify for it. You can add a heat pump to your gas furnace as a hybrid system, which runs on the heat pump most of the year. PSE offers a hybrid rebate to PSE natural gas customers; we confirm eligibility on your account before quoting.
Yes. Inside city limits the City of Lake Stevens Permit Center issues the mechanical permit, and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit. Addresses outside city limits, such as Machias, go through Snohomish County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
Most heat pump installations take between 4 and 10 hours, depending on the system type and how many systems we install.
Yes, when it's sized right. The heating design temperature for nearby Snohomish is 21°F under the Washington State Energy Code. We size every system with a room-by-room Manual J load calculation and set backup heat to come on only when it's needed.
Sometimes. A ducted heat pump needs its own circuit, so we check your panel at the free estimate. If it needs an upgrade, our licensed electricians handle it (WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
If it's older, uses R-22 or needs frequent repairs, replacing it usually makes more sense. Replacement estimates are free. Snohomish PUD's rebate page does not cover replacing an existing heat pump, so we check what applies to your home before quoting.
A 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. After that, a heat pump tune-up is $230, or $180 for Home Comfort Club members, per piece of equipment, and Club members with a new system we installed get labor coverage for up to 5 years.
