Usually, yes. A heat pump heats and cools with one system. What you heat with today, and which utility supplies your electricity, decide the best setup and the rebate.
| What you heat with today | Usual heat pump option | Rebate to check |
|---|---|---|
| Electric baseboards or wall heaters | Ductless mini-split, or ducted if you have ducts | PSE $1,500 conversion (King County side); Snohomish PUD rebates are for ducted systems |
| Electric furnace | Ducted heat pump on the existing ducts | PSE $1,500 conversion, or Snohomish PUD $1,800 or $2,500 |
| PSE gas furnace | Hybrid (dual fuel): heat pump plus your furnace | PSE $1,500 hybrid; $4,000 if income-qualified and switching off gas |
| Older heat pump, out of warranty | Cold-climate ducted replacement | PSE $1,500 upgrade (PSE electric customers) |
| Oil furnace | Ducted heat pump | We check current programs for you |
Bothell sits in two counties. PSE supplies electricity on the King County side and Snohomish County PUD supplies it on the Snohomish County side; PSE supplies natural gas on both. The county line runs along NE 205th Street, which becomes 244th Street SW on the Snohomish County side. The easiest way to tell which utility you have is the name on your electric bill.
| Your electric utility | Heat pump rebate | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| PSE (King County side) | $1,500 electric resistance to heat pump, plus up to $2,400 Efficiency Boost | Homes heated by baseboards, wall heaters or an electric furnace; centrally ducted or fully ductless |
| PSE (King County side) | $1,500 heat pump upgrade | Out-of-warranty, centrally ducted all-electric heat pumps replaced with cold-climate equipment; ductless not eligible |
| PSE (King County side) | Instant discount of $300, $400 or $600 | Qualifying new heat pumps, by efficiency tier; one unit per retrofit |
| Snohomish PUD (Snohomish County side) | $1,800 ducted conversion or $2,500 ducted inverter-driven | Homes where electric heat is the primary heat; ducted systems; installed by a PUD registered contractor; savings in your first bill |
| PSE natural gas (either side) | $1,500 hybrid; $4,000 income-qualified gas to heat pump | PSE gas customers; hybrid must be centrally ducted. We confirm eligibility on your PSE account before we quote. |
Some PSE rebates cannot be combined, so we check which option pays you the most. Home Comfort Alliance is a PSE Trade Ally and an approved contractor for Snohomish PUD, and we handle the PSE rebate paperwork for you. The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. More detail: PSE rebates and all rebates.
We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer, Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Lennox Premier Dealer and Quilt dealer, and we service all major brands.
We size every heat pump with an ACCA Manual J load calculation, room by room, rather than matching the old equipment. Homes on the hills around Norway Hill and Maywood/Beckstrom Hill see colder nights than the valley along North Creek, so we often recommend cold-climate heat pumps that keep heating well below freezing.

Regional benchmark, not our price: Angi lists Seattle-area heat pump installations at about $6,667 to $13,852, averaging $10,218 (updated July 8, 2026, Angi).

Inside city limits, the City of Bothell issues the mechanical permit for a new heat pump, and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit, because Bothell is not on L&I's list of cities that run their own electrical inspections. Bothell mailing addresses outside city limits go through Snohomish County or King County permitting. We place the outdoor unit to meet the City's setback rules, and we pull the required permits for every installation.
A heat pump needs a dedicated circuit, and some older panels lack the space or capacity. We check your panel on the estimate visit, and our licensed electricians handle any upgrade (panel upgrades, WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
Signs it is time: frequent repairs, weak heat in cold weather, rising bills, or a system that uses R-22 refrigerant. On the King County side, PSE's $1,500 upgrade rebate can help if your heat pump is out of warranty and centrally ducted. Snohomish PUD's published rebates are for conversions from electric heat. Not sure? Read repair or replace a heat pump, or book a repair visit and get both prices in writing (heat pump replacement).
New installations come with a 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation.
Home Comfort Club plans are $15 a month per trade (HVAC, plumbing or electrical) or $30 a month for all three, with yearly maintenance or inspections and member pricing (membership plans).
We install heat pumps across Bothell, including Canyon Park, North Creek, Thrasher's Corner, Norway Hill and Maywood/Beckstrom Hill, on both the King County and Snohomish County sides. Nearby, see heat pumps in Woodinville.
In September 2026 we installed a dual-fuel system in a north Bothell home on the Snohomish County side: a Carrier Comfort series variable-capacity inverter heat pump paired with a Carrier Performance series two-stage gas furnace, a 4-inch MERV 11 media filter and a Honeywell smart thermostat.
The outdoor unit went in the side yard, the refrigerant lines run through the crawlspace, and the electrical conduit runs low along the house from the panel to the outdoor unit. The heat pump carries most of the heating, and the gas furnace takes over on the coldest days.

Your price depends on your home's heating and cooling needs, the add-ons you need, how many rooms the system serves and where it's installed. Get a price range in about 30 seconds with our free instant quote tool, then a technician confirms the exact price on a free site visit. For reference, Angi puts the Seattle-area average at $10,218 (July 2026), before rebates.
It depends on your electric utility. On the King County side, PSE pays $1,500 to replace electric resistance heat and $1,500 to upgrade an out-of-warranty ducted heat pump, plus an instant discount of $300, $400 or $600 on qualifying equipment. On the Snohomish County side, Snohomish PUD pays $1,800 or $2,500 for a ducted heat pump in a home heated mainly by electricity. Amounts checked October 2026.
The King and Snohomish county line runs along NE 205th Street (244th Street SW on the Snohomish side), but the quickest check is your electric bill. If it comes from PSE, the PSE electric rebates apply; if it comes from Snohomish PUD, the PUD rebates apply. Most homes get gas from PSE on both sides. We confirm your utility and rebate before we quote.
Yes, that's a hybrid (dual fuel) system: the heat pump does most of the heating and the furnace takes over on the coldest days. PSE offers $1,500 for adding a ducted heat pump to a PSE gas furnace, with a $2,400 income-based boost. Ductless systems don't qualify for this rebate. We confirm eligibility on your PSE account.
On the King County side, yes: PSE's $1,500 conversion rebate covers fully ductless systems that replace electric resistance heat. Snohomish PUD lists rebates for ducted heat pumps only today. PSE's income-qualified $4,000 gas to heat pump rebate also covers ductless.
Yes. Inside city limits the City of Bothell issues the mechanical permit and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit. Bothell addresses outside city limits go through Snohomish County or King County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
A correctly sized cold-climate heat pump heats well through Western Washington winters. We size every system with a room-by-room Manual J load calculation and can pair it with backup heat or your gas furnace.
Sometimes. A ducted heat pump needs its own circuits, so we check your panel's capacity at the estimate. If it needs an upgrade, our licensed electricians handle it (WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
If it's older, uses R-22 or needs frequent repairs, replacing it usually makes more sense. See heat pump repair in Bothell for repair prices; replacement estimates are free.
