Home Comfort Alliance installs and replaces ducted, ductless and hybrid heat pumps in Snohomish from our Everett branch, with a room-by-room Manual J load calculation and the required permits on every installation.
Approved contractor for Snohomish PUD and PSE
The City of Snohomish says electricity comes from Snohomish PUD and natural gas from PSE. The PUD rebate comes off your price when electric heat is your primary heat, and gas homes can add a heat pump with PSE's hybrid rebate. We size for Snohomish's 21°F design temperature, pull city or county permits, and most installations take 4 to 10 hours.

Usually, yes. A heat pump heats and cools with one system, and what you heat with today decides the best setup and the rebate.
| What you heat with today | Usual heat pump option | Rebate to check |
|---|---|---|
| Gas furnace | A full switch to a heat pump, or a hybrid with your furnace | PSE $1,500 hybrid; $4,000 if income-qualified and switching off gas |
| Electric furnace or air handler | Ducted heat pump on the existing ducts | Snohomish PUD $1,800 or $2,500 |
| Baseboards or wall heaters | Ductless heat pump, or ducted if the home has ducts | PUD rebate for ducted systems only |
| Shop, ADU or outbuilding | Ductless heat pump with its own outdoor unit | No PUD rebate for ductless today |
Valley homes see cold air settle on still winter nights, and rural properties often have a shop or ADU that needs its own heat. We size each building on its own and check the panel before we quote.
Snohomish homes get electricity from Snohomish PUD and natural gas from PSE.
| Utility | Amount | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Snohomish PUD | $1,800 | Ducted heat pump rated 7.5 HSPF2 and 13.8 SEER2 or better, when electric heat is your primary heat; installed by a PUD registered contractor |
| Snohomish PUD | $2,500 | Ducted inverter-driven heat pump rated 8.5 HSPF2 or better; same rules |
| PSE (natural gas) | $1,500 hybrid | PSE gas furnace homes adding a ducted heat pump that switches over at 30°F or lower |
| PSE (natural gas) | $4,000 | Income-qualified PSE gas customers switching to a heat pump; apply within 30 days of install |
The PUD rebate comes off your bill as reduced pricing, and we send the application to the PUD for you. Snohomish PUD lists rebates for ducted heat pumps only today, so ductless systems don't get a PUD rebate. Gas-heated homes don't qualify for the PUD rebate, but PSE's hybrid rebate works for PSE gas customers on PUD power: we have claimed it for Mill Creek homes this year. The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. We are an approved contractor for Snohomish PUD and PSE (Snohomish PUD rebates, all rebates).
We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer, Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Lennox Premier Dealer and Quilt dealer, and we service all major brands.
Washington's energy code lists 21°F as the heating design temperature for Snohomish (WAC 51-11C-80100). We size every heat pump with an ACCA Manual J load calculation, room by room, rather than matching the old equipment, and we recommend cold-climate heat pumps or a hybrid system where your home needs more margin.
Your price depends on your home's heating and cooling needs, the add-ons you need, how many rooms the system serves and where it's installed. Inside city limits, the City of Snohomish Permit Center (116 Union Ave) issues the permit through its Self-Service Permit Portal, and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit (L&I city list). Addresses outside city limits, such as Clearview or Maltby, go through Snohomish County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
A heat pump needs a dedicated circuit, and some older panels lack the space or capacity. We check your panel on the estimate visit, and our licensed electricians handle any upgrade (panel upgrades, WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
Signs it is time: frequent repairs, weak heat in cold weather, rising bills, or a system that uses R-22 refrigerant. If electric heat is your primary heat, a ducted replacement can qualify for the Snohomish PUD rebate. Not sure? Read repair or replace a heat pump (heat pump replacement).
A 3-year Comfort Shield labor warranty on new installations, kept active with yearly maintenance. First-year maintenance is included. After that, a heat pump tune-up is $230, or $180 for Home Comfort Club members, per piece of equipment. Home Comfort Club members with a new system installed by Home Comfort Alliance get extended labor coverage for up to 5 years from installation. Home Comfort Club plans are $15 a month per trade or $30 a month for all three (membership plans).
In July 2026 we switched a Snohomish-area home off gas: the crew replaced the gas furnace with an air handler and a Carrier heat pump, capped the old furnace vent, ran a circuit for backup electric strip heat, added a 4-inch media filter and a smart thermostat, and set the outdoor unit on the side of the home. The heat pump now heats and cools the whole house, with the strip heat as backup on the coldest nights.

We install heat pumps across Snohomish (98290 and 98296), including Historic Downtown and Blackmans Lake, plus nearby Clearview and Maltby, from our Everett branch. Nearby: heat pumps in Lake Stevens, heat pumps in Mill Creek, heat pumps in Edmonds and furnace replacement in Snohomish.

Snohomish homes get electricity from Snohomish PUD. The PUD pays $1,800 for a ducted heat pump (7.5 HSPF2 and 13.8 SEER2 or better) or $2,500 for a ducted inverter-driven heat pump (8.5 HSPF2 or better), when electric heat is your primary heat and a PUD registered contractor installs it. Amounts checked November 2026.
We are an approved contractor for Snohomish PUD, so the rebate comes off your bill as reduced pricing and we send the application to the PUD for you.
The PUD rebate needs electric heat as your primary heat, so gas-heated homes don't qualify for it. You can add a heat pump to your gas furnace as a hybrid system, and PSE pays $1,500 to its natural gas customers for that, even when Snohomish PUD supplies your electricity. Income-qualified PSE gas customers who switch fully to a heat pump can get $4,000.
Snohomish PUD lists rebates for ducted heat pumps only today. We still install ductless systems for homes without ducts, condos, additions and rooms the ducts don't reach, and we check the PUD's current list before we quote.
Yes. Inside city limits the City of Snohomish issues the permit through its online Permit Portal, and Washington L&I issues the electrical permit. Addresses outside city limits, such as Clearview or Maltby, go through Snohomish County. We pull the required permits for every installation.
Most heat pump installations take between 4 and 10 hours, depending on the system type and how many systems we install.
Yes, when it's sized right. The heating design temperature for Snohomish is 21°F under the Washington State Energy Code. We size every system with a room-by-room Manual J load calculation and set backup heat to come on only when it's needed.
No. The federal 25C tax credit ended for heat pumps installed after December 31, 2025. Utility rebates are still available, and we check every program you qualify for.
Sometimes. A ducted heat pump needs its own circuit, so we check your panel at the free estimate. If it needs an upgrade, our licensed electricians handle it (WA Electrical Contractor Lic. #HOMECCA782DC).
If it's older, uses R-22 or needs frequent repairs, replacing it usually makes more sense. Replacement estimates are free, and we check which rebates apply to your home before quoting.
